The upgrading scholarship is a funding programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Germany that offers professionally qualified people with very good performance the opportunity to complete a course of study or further training. The scholarship is aimed at people who have completed training in a recognised training occupation and already have several years of professional experience.
The upgrading scholarship includes financial support in the form of a monthly scholarship of up to 735 euros and a one-time book allowance of up to 150 euros. In addition, costs for accommodation, meals and childcare can be supported if required.
The aim of the advancement scholarship is to increase the chances of a career in the academic or qualified professional field and to improve social advancement opportunities.
Study prerequisites
The prerequisite for the scholarship is completed vocational training or advanced training with a grade of at least 1.9 or 87 points or more. Advanced further training includes, for example, further training to become a master craftsman, specialist business administrator or specialist nurse.
The application procedure for this scholarship must not exceed the second semester of studies.
