The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) offers a variety of scholarship programmes for different target groups, including:
- Scholarship for Gifted Students: These scholarships are aimed at gifted and committed students who are particularly committed to social engagement and political education. The support includes a monthly stipend, educational and networking events as well as counselling and support.
- Doctoral funding: The KAS also supports doctoral projects in the fields of social sciences and humanities, law as well as economics and administrative sciences. The support includes a monthly scholarship, one-time start-up funding and a comprehensive seminar programme.
- Scholarships abroad: The KAS also awards scholarships for study stays abroad, especially in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. These scholarships usually include a monthly stipend, tuition fees, travel expenses and support in finding a suitable host institution.
- Journalism scholarships: The KAS also supports young journalists who distinguish themselves through sound journalistic training and a special interest in political topics. The scholarships include a monthly stipend as well as an extensive seminar programme.
- Educational scholarships: The KAS also awards scholarships for professional training and further education in the fields of politics, administration and society. These scholarships usually include financial support as well as seminars and workshops
Study prerequisites
The exact requirements for Konrad Adenauer Foundation scholarships may vary depending on the scholarship programme and target group. In general, however, the following criteria are relevant:
- Scholarships for Gifted Students: For support within the framework of the support for the gifted, applicants must generally demonstrate above-average commitment in school, studies or society. In addition, good results in studies or school are expected. Political and social interest as well as strong communication and teamwork skills are also important requirements.
- Doctoral funding: To be eligible for doctoral funding, applicants must generally have completed a university degree with an above-average grade. In addition, they must present a doctoral project in the field of social sciences or humanities, law or economics and administrative sciences and explain their motivation and suitability for a doctorate.
- Scholarships abroad: For funding in the context of a study abroad programme, applicants must generally have a completed university degree or comparable qualification. They should also have a good command of English and intercultural competence and be able to present a convincing study project for the semester or year abroad.
- Journalism scholarships: For funding within the framework of a journalism bursary, applicants must, as a rule, have completed journalism training or a degree in communication studies. In addition, they should already have gained some experience in journalism and have a strong interest in political topics.
- Educational scholarships: For support within the framework of an educational scholarship, applicants must generally have completed vocational training or a degree. In addition, they should be interested in social and political topics and be planning further professional training.
