Description of the programme

The Bachelor’s degree Management in International Business teaches you modern business and management tools and theories – always with a special focus on international markets, companies, and teams.

The programme is taught entirely in English, giving you the opportunity to learn and work in an English-speaking environment. As well as developing your English language skills, your classes will also help you to develop your soft skills, including presentation, public speaking and debating.

All HdWM degree courses are designed to prepare you for the job entry. Practical experience is therefore integrated in various ways into your studies. In the 4th semester, you will complete an 18-week internship that you can spend in a company in Germany or abroad. Our Career Network team will support you from the 1st semester on by getting you in touch with our network partners operating in international business management.

To make your Bachelor's degree truly international, you can earn a double degree at our partner university, Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK) in Finland. After studying there for two semesters, you will have earned the credits you need for an additional degree in business administration.

The programme is entirely in English, providing you with the opportunity to learn and work in an English-speaking environment. All lecturers have professional experience, creating a practical and dynamic learning environment. Moreover, many of the lecturers are native English speakers, contributing to authentic language and cultural immersion.

Integrated company visits are part of the curriculum, offering you firsthand exposure to real business scenarios. Guest speakers from the industry and diverse cultural backgrounds enrich the lectures by providing a wide range of perspectives and experiences.

Furthermore, study semesters abroad are actively encouraged and supported, allowing you to gain international experience and study in a global setting.

Curriculum

Semester abroad & internship

All HdWM study programmes are designed to facilitate graduates' smooth transition into the professional world. Hence, there are fixed practical components embedded in the curriculum to provide hands-on experience during your studies. A network of more than 50 partner companies and the support of the HdWM Career Network will prepare you for your envisioned career path.

All lecturers bring extensive business experience that they willingly impart to their students. Company visits and real-life business cases enrich lectures, offering valuable insights into the corporate realm.

During the 4th semester, you will undertake an 18-week internship, which you can pursue either within a company in Germany or abroad. This, alongside the bachelor's thesis in the 6th semester, will equip you for entry into the workforce.

Moreover, you can enhance your professional experience during your studies by voluntarily working as a working student during the semester or in breaks.

Please note that companies in Germany expect a high proficiency in German from their applicants (B2 level or higher). HdWM offers German classes for international students.

HdWM is member in the Erasmus + program. With this, you can easly make your dream of a semester abroad become reality - financially funded and with recognition of your credits. The international office helps you in finding the right university for you.

HdWM funds ist tuition fees also via financial contributions of the partner companies. By this, we can offer tuition fees of 590€. There is a non-recurring enrollment fee of 590€.

HdWM is a nonprofit organisation, therefore all revenues are used for the development of our university and the constant enhancement of the teaching quality as well as the student services.

Non-EU students will be required to set up a German bank account and hand in a signed SEPA direct debit mandate for the monthly payment of the tuition fees. You will receive all necessary documents with your study contract.

Scholarships

There are several ways how to fund your studies as a student at HdWM. We offer several merit-based scholarships as well as scholarships for social contribution which are open for all HdWM students. The HdWM study model makes it possible to work while studying – and in fact, this is also highly recommended and encouraged! Furthermore, German citizens can also obtain BAföG or a KfW student loan. Under some circumstances, international students can also apply for these financing options.

During your studies at HdWM, you can apply for the Social Leadership Scholarship. With this programme, scholarship holders receive 300 euros per month for one to two semesters.

The Social Leadership Scholarship is aimed at students with outstanding social commitment. Potential scholarship holders are nominated by HdWM employees and selected by a committee.

If you have an education equaling the German (Fach-)Hochschulreife, interest in management and other cultures, and if you would like to start your career in this area, then you have good chances of studying at HdWM.
