Your Study Program at a Glance
This full-time Master's program is structured into four semesters. The first year focuses on core, program-specific modules, while the second year offers options to study abroad, complete an internship, or develop your own start-up idea in the XU Garage. The program concludes with a master’s thesis based on applied research or industry collaboration.
Designed to prepare future leaders of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the program equips students with the skills to manage technological transformations driven by IoT, AI, robotics, and data analytics. It blends technology, business, and economics to address real-world industrial challenges.
The curriculum covers three key areas:
Industrial Technology Engineering: Smart product innovation, smart factories, data management, and cyber-physical systems.
Business & Management: Strategic leadership, organizational development, and change management.
Economics: Network economics and the impact of Industry 4.0 on global value chains.
Students can specialize in smart cities, robotics & automation, or industrial applications of Industry 4.0. The program also includes training in leadership, research methods, and consulting techniques.
Optional components include participation in an international summer school and additional research projects.
Graduates are equipped to fill the growing global demand for skilled professionals in Industry 4.0—especially in Germany, Europe, and beyond.
