FHDW Fachhochschule der Wirtschaft
University of Applied Sciences (private) with multiple locationsThe FHDW offers dual and part-time Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in business administration and business informatics. In addition to the close integration of theory and practice, the manageable groups, intensive supervision by lecturers, study organisation and a large number of international university cooperations offer studies with attractive career opportunities.
The combination of theory and practice is the FHDW's recipe for success. In the dual Bachelor's programme, students regularly alternate between learning phases at the university and practical phases in partner companies over the entire duration of their studies. Each phase lasts three months. Around 650 companies are involved in the FHDW's cooperation network. They often pay all or part of the tuition fees and employ the graduates on a permanent basis after graduation. In this way, over 90 per cent of FHDW students already have a permanent position in the company when they graduate.
The FHDW has developed a special study programme that also enables working professionals to gain further qualifications in a goal-oriented manner. The courses in the part-time Bachelor's programme take place on a maximum of two evenings a week and on Saturdays.
The part-time Master's programme offers a further professional qualification on the basis of a Bachelor's degree or a diploma. The Master's degree creates the best prerequisites for taking on special management tasks in the business administration or IT sector.

University profile
Accreditations & awards
FHDW is “Top Digital Education Provider”
The market research institute ServiceValue examined the user satisfaction of digital education providers for the magazine Wirtschaftswoche. The FHDW received a grade of 2.50 – only 0.08 grade points behind the first-place finisher in the business school category. For this, the FHDW was awarded the “Top Digital Education Provider” seal in November 2020.
In various categories, users of 115 providers gave school grades for the quality of the education provided online. A total of 10,750 evaluations were collected.
Institutional accreditation by the German Science Council
As the most important advisory body for science policy in Germany, the Science Council confirmed in 2008 that the FHDW, as a private university, provides teaching and research according to recognised scientific standards and has the necessary material, personnel and financial resources. Most recently, the FHDW was re-accredited for another five years in 2019, once again confirming that it meets the high quality requirements.
System accreditation according to the Accreditation Council by FIBAA
In system accreditation, the quality assurance system of a higher education institution is examined to determine whether it functions in such a way that the higher education institution can guarantee the quality of its study programmes.
The Foundation Accreditation Council is a joint institution of the Länder for quality assurance in teaching and learning at German higher education institutions. It commissions accreditation agencies for this task. At the FHDW, the accreditation agency FIBAA reviewed the quality assurance system according to the specifications of the Accreditation Council. For example, the teaching evaluation, the examination system and the management of teaching assistants were scrutinised. In December 2018, the FHDW successfully completed the system accreditation. The experts came to the conclusion that the university can be released into independence. This means that the FHDW will carry out programme accreditations itself in the future.

Reasons for studying with us
Good reasons for studying at the FHDW
The decision to study is generally not easy. Regardless of whether you come directly from school or have already been working for many years, the FHDW has adapted its study concept to these general conditions. Below you will find some good reasons to take up studies at the Fachhochschule der Wirtschaft.
Combination of theory and practice gives you a head start in your career
In the dual Bachelor's programme at the FHDW, students alternate between university and company on a quarterly basis. During their studies, both sides can “get to know each other” and see if they harmonise. This lays the foundation for successful cooperation at an early stage.
The part-time Bachelor's and Master's degree programme combines a full-time job with the degree programme. This means that the study content can be used directly at the workplace and it is not necessary to leave the job.
Small groups promote personal contacts
Studying at the FHDW means: no overcrowded lecture halls and no impersonal meetings. The FHDW knows its students. The study groups are only ever as large as a class: a maximum of 36 students.
Perfect organisation saves time
Students do not have to worry about the sequence and organisation of their studies. The study programmes at the FHDW are perfectly organised and coordinated.
The part-time Bachelor programmes take into account the NRW school holidays.
Career Service helps to discover potential
The Career Service is the central point of contact when it comes to questions about partner companies, applications or individual career paths. It provides support before students begin their studies and takes care of their professional orientation during their studies. The goal of the Career Service is to work with students to find a suitable entry-level position. Thus, the Career Service offers many opportunities to prepare for a successful career start. Adapted to the course of your studies, there are several stations where professional skills can be discovered and developed
Worldwide connections – International Office
The FHDW maintains intensive contact with many universities abroad. But even if it's “just” about a quarter abroad, an internship or both, we are happy to help. The International Office is the right contact here. A one-week excursion abroad is also compulsory in the MBA programme. The destinations: China or Vietnam. Master's students can also take part in this voluntarily.
