In 2007, the NBS Northern Business School was founded as a non-profit limited company on the initiative of companies and business associations from the Hamburg metropolitan region, which has since grown into a university with over 1,200 students.
The NBS Northern Business School – University of Applied Sciences offers bachelor's and masterapos;s programmes on a full-time and part-time basis. These include programmes in a wide range of fields, from classical business administration, social work and security management to business psychology, international management and real estate management.

The NBS makes it possible to study full- and part-time in order to adapt the offer to the studentsapos; life circumstances and also to enable working people to study. The individual study programmes are accredited and thus offer the security of a recognised degree.
Small group principle, practice-oriented teaching and intensive support, a modern learning environment as well as innovative research—these are the foundations on which NBS bases its support for students.

Accreditations & awards
NBS Northern Business School – University of Applied Sciences is a state-recognised university by the Hamburg Ministry of Science, Research and Equality and institutionally accredited by the German Science Council. All study programmes at NBS are also accredited by the independent accreditation agency ACQUIN and thus subject to regular, external quality control.
Scholarships
Although the NBS Northern Business School itself does not award any university scholarships, there are numerous scholarship programmes that are available to students throughout Germany.
