Description of the programme
As a special needs teacher, you belong to the central professional group when it comes to inclusion and participation. The special education degree program provides you with basic, analytical and practical knowledge to support, promote and accompany processes of inclusion and participation of people with (disability-related) experiences of exclusion at all levels. The Bachelor's program in Special Needs Education complements your training at the Special Needs Education Academy with an academic perspective. You will get to know the research field of special needs education with its different lines of discourse and subject areas, deepen your knowledge of research methods and innovative practices in special needs education and, based on this, you will be able to plan and evaluate special needs education interventions in an evidence-based manner and optimally organize facilities. The cooperation with the state working group of the specialized academies ensures an optimal dovetailing of training and studies, e.g. with regard to time planning and subject areas.
Note: Training as a state-recognized curative teacher at a specialist academy for curative education which has begun or been completed is a prerequisite for studying at the SRH Wilhelm Löhe University of Applied Sciences.
Why enrolling in this programme?
The contents of your training at a specialist academy for curative education are recognized in your studies. Your curative education studies at the SRH Wilhelm Löhe University of Applied Sciences in Fürth near Nuremberg are divided into three phases:
1st study phase (4 semesters): Crediting of competencies from your training or professional activity
2nd study phase (6 semesters): You study parallel to your further education at the Special Academy for Special Needs Education, approx. 8 days per semester at the SRH WLH (mainly during the Bavarian school holidays).
3rd study phase (1 semester): After completing the Special Academy for Special Needs Education, you will take part in another course and write your Bachelor's thesis.
If you are already a state-recognized curative teacher, you can shorten your studies to 5 semesters, approx. 10 days per semester!
