Description of the programme

Optimise your career prospects: The MA Business Management programme prepares you to successfully manage companies and institutions of all sectors and sizes. At the same time, benefit from practical experience during the Management master's programme.

Focus your master's programme on your career planning and choose between three different specialisations in the third semester:

– IT Management;
– People & Culture;
– International Sales Management.

In the four-semester version of the master's with a specialisation in Digital Leadership, you will further expand your career options. You will strengthen your analytical skills, combine practice and study and focus on the topics of digitalisation and transformation. You have two specialisations:

– IT Management and People & Culture;
– IT Management and International Sales Management

Why enrolling in this programme?

The Management master's programme offers a number of advantages: It is characterised by a flexible study model with a high practical component, which enables individual supervision in small groups of a maximum of 25 students. With only two teaching days per week, it offers sufficient freedom for part-time work. It is also possible to complete the study programme in either German or English. The Career Network @HdWM supports personal career development, while access to a network of around 50 partner companies offers valuable insights and opportunities. In addition, advanced management skills are taught through three different specialisation options. If you are missing credits, these can easily be made up through a preliminary course or the four-semester Digital Leadership option. The study programme is FIBAA-certified and the four-semester option enables students to specialise in business management with a focus on digital leadership.

Semester abroad & internship

The programmes at HdWM are designed to adequately prepare you for entering the workforce, integrating practical elements into the curriculum.

Alongside an optional eight-week internship, which can be completed either within a company or as a research project, the Career Network supports you from the beginning of the Management master's programme. We connect you with approximately 50 partner companies and offer career coaching.

Most HdWM professors and lecturers boast extensive experience in the business world, which they pass on to Management master's students. Real business cases enrich the teaching, supplemented by regular guest lectures from industry representatives.

You have the option to further enhance your studies with additional practical experience. The Management master's programme is designed to be compatible with part-time work, as it only requires attendance two days a week, and semester breaks allow for part-time job opportunities.

You can spend a voluntary exchange semester at one of our partner universities. The International Office supports you in choosing the right university for you and informs you about the possible sponsorships in the Erasmus + program.

You should have successfully completed your Bachelor's degree by the start of your Master's degree in Business Management and have a business administration component of 30 ECTS. Regardless of whether you have completed your Bachelor's degree with 180 or 210 ECTS, at HdWM you have the opportunity to enter the Business Management Master's degree. It is also possible to credit advance payments (work experience, etc.). The Student Advisory Service will be happy to advise you!

Prospective students with 180 ECTS choose the course of study with four semesters, with 210 ECTS you can successfully complete their studies within three semesters. Of course, you can voluntarily complete a semester abroad in any case.

For this English track master’s in international management programme, non-native speakers of English need to certify language skills on at least B2 level, according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). This can be certified by a German Abitur or any common language test, such as e.g. TOEFL or IELTS. Additional German skills are highly recommended for international students.
