Description of the programme
This prepares you optimally to initiate, accompany and guide scientific projects. In the online degree programme, you will gain all the necessary knowledge for your professional development in one of the most important and fastest-growing industries worldwide.
In this Master's programme you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the production of biopharmaceuticals. We provide you with all the necessary knowledge and skills to set quality standards, optimise production processes and carry out benefit-risk assessments. You will dedicate yourself to the development of biopharmaceuticals, deal with process planning and control and deal with the legal and ethical aspects of pharmaceutical biotechnology as well as relevant management issues. You learn about the current challenges of the pharmaceutical process industry and the importance of quality and risk management. You will also acquire a sound knowledge of biotechnological production and purification processes and deal with the procedures of active substance search and the approval of medicinal products.

Why enrolling in this programme?
Biopharmaceutical analytics, process optimisation and project management - these contents are on your study plan in the first semester. You gain a comprehensive insight into the pharmaceutical process industry. In the second semester you will deepen your skills in laboratory practice - you will deal with bioprocess technology and dive into the preclinical phase. Your Master's thesis is the focus of your third semester.
Practical experience is very important. In the second semester, you complete a two-week laboratory internship in our state-of-the-art laboratories in Idstein and implement a large-scale manufacturing process on a small scale. In doing so, you will learn about biotechnological processes in detail and gain important experience in process control and production optimisation.
With the part-time Master's programme in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (M.Sc.), you can combine your studies, career and private life. Via our e-learning platform studynet you study with the greatest possible flexibility - when you want and where you want. You can get in touch with your lecturers and fellow students. Studynet also provides you with all the content you need to prepare for and follow up on lectures. Classroom sessions only take place every two to three weeks on Fridays and Saturdays.
