Description of the programme
Start early and tailor your studies to your own interests. The focus is on the management of fitness and health companies as well as leadership of employees.
Through various elective modules, you have the opportunity to shape your studies according to your individual interests. This dual program, "Fitness Science and Fitness Economics (B.A.)," is currently unique in Germany as it combines scientifically grounded exercise science, fundamental business and management knowledge, and specialization.
Another advantage is that you will receive a monthly training allowance during your studies, and in most cases, the tuition fees will be covered by the training company.
Our collaboration with the National Association for Fitness Certification (NAFC) provides Bachelor students with a unique opportunity to obtain a U.S.-accredited Personal Trainer license. We are the only university in Germany where the NAFC license can be obtained.
By choosing modules like "Prevention and Rehabilitation Sports" and "Back Training," you can earn licenses that allow you to bill service providers such as health insurance companies as course instructors. Additionally, proof of basic qualification is required for recognition as a course instructor. The assessment of qualifications will be done on a case-by-case basis by the Central Prevention Test Center (ZPP). If the necessary requirements are not fully met, they can potentially be supplemented with additional courses.

Accreditations & awards
The IST Hochschule für Management is officially accredited as a state-recognised university by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. This guarantees the equivalence of the degrees with degrees from state universities.
The bachelor's, master's and MBA programmes are accredited by the International Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (FIBAA). This means that you achieve an international and state-recognised degree. With the award of credit points according to the European Credit and Accumulation Transfer System (ECTS), your academic achievements are internationally comparable and recognised.
The IST Hochschule für Management has been institutionally accredited for five years after a thorough review by the German Science Council. We have thus received further state recognition, which underpins our claim to quality.
