Accreditations & awards
Karlshochschule has been state-recognised by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science since 2005.
With institutional accreditation, the Science Council ensures that a non-state university can provide teaching and research services that meet recognised academic standards. This is intended to ensure both academic performance and the functioning of the university's own quality control system.
System accreditation was granted by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) on 13 April 2015 without any conditions. System accreditation by an external accreditation agency (FIBAA) enables Karlshochschule to accredit its degree programs itself in a self-accreditation procedure by an external expert commission. Since the system accreditation in 2015, all study programmes at Karlshochschule have undergone this accreditation procedure. In accordance with the resolution of the Accreditation Council of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Study Programmes of 31 March 2023, Karlshochschule International University was reaccredited until 31 March 2030.

Specialisations
You can further specialise in the following areas:
– Political Communication
– Activism and Political Change
– Sustainable Development
Political Communication
You believe that our world is all about communication: that's why our world needs you when it comes to political change. Not only do you enjoy communicating, but you are also fascinated by the psychological background, new forms of media and social dynamics of communication. With this knowledge in mind, you can work for non-profit organisations, political parties, and also as a critical journalist!
Activism and Political Change
You understand that things need to change and you want to understand the society you live in. You want to analyse how political movements have achieved their goals in the past. But you also want to understand how others think - and create an understanding of how other people see the world. By volunteering for the issues you care about, you inspire and mobilise people to join important causes that will sustainably and constructively change the world.
Sustainable Development
Do you believe that there is an urgent need to make our society more sustainable? Are you fascinated by the role of bottom-up initiatives for more sustainability? Would you like to take responsibility for this and bring people together? But do you also want to understand the global context of sustainable development? Then this specialisation is just right for you!
Semester abroad & internship
For Karlshochschule, international exchange and the associated intercultural experience are fundamental. The integrated stay at a university abroad in the fourth or fifth semester of your bachelor's programme and the continuous support of the International Office make it much easier for you to organise this. Thanks to Karlshochschule's large network, you can choose from around 100 partner universities worldwide.
A semester abroad gives you the opportunity to gain new experiences and broaden your horizons. You can increase your intercultural competence, improve your foreign language skills and familiarise yourself with a new learning culture. You can make international contacts that can help you later in your professional career. Information events and various workshops on intercultural preparation round off the International Office's programme. There are various funding options, and you do not pay any additional tuition fees at the partner universities.
At the end of your study program, you go into the practical semester: three to six months in which you show what you can do under real conditions. For you, this is the best springboard into working life and a good source for the topic of your bachelor's thesis. Karlshochschule is there to advise you in choosing your internship—with the best contacts to international companies, NGOs and cultural institutions. The internship can also be done abroad.

Scholarships
As a small, non-profit foundation university, Karlshochschule only has very limited opportunities to support students with scholarships. However, the study programmes at Karlshochschule meet all the requirements of numerous scholarship providers. In this way, we want to make it possible for students to study at Karlshochschule regardless of their financial background.
In addition to the general scholarships, Karlshochschule also offers partial scholarships for studying at Karlshochschule together with our partner organisations.
Erasmus scholarships and other scholarships for the semester abroad are awarded by our International Office: During the semester abroad, Karlshochschule students studying at European partner universities are 100% funded by Erasmus scholarships!
