University profile
We see ourselves as a service provider for students, the economy and society. We see our task as the development of science through research, teaching, study at the intersection of business, politics, culture and civil society.
In addition to application-oriented research our main objective is to enable our students to independently apply scientific knowledge and methods in professional practice through practice-oriented teaching.
Another guiding principle of Karlshochschule is to support students in their personal development. Our student initiatives in the areas of culture, sport, sustainability, mental health and much more provide the ideal platform for this.
We see ourselves as an international institution with an intercultural character. A semester abroad at a partner university is an integral element of the bachelor's programmes. In addition, intercultural exercises and elements are anchored in the study programmes from the first semester onwards and English is the language of instruction in all programs.
Together with partners from civil society, we see ourselves as pioneers of civic engagement among young people. We co-operate with civil society groups that are committed to topics such as diversity, international co-operation, responsible business, sustainability, gender equality and social justice.
Empowering young people to take on responsibility is one of our guiding principles. The university supports civic engagement by providing scholarships, academic expertise or by organising joint events.

Accreditations & awards
Karlshochschule has been state-recognised by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science since 2005.
With institutional accreditation, the Science Council ensures that a non-state university can provide teaching and research services that meet recognised academic standards. This is intended to ensure both academic performance and the functioning of the university's own quality control system.
System accreditation was granted by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) on 13 April 2015 without any conditions. System accreditation by an external accreditation agency (FIBAA) enables Karlshochschule to accredit its degree programs itself in a self-accreditation procedure by an external expert commission. Since the system accreditation in 2015, all study programmes at Karlshochschule have undergone this accreditation procedure. In accordance with the resolution of the Accreditation Council of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Study Programmes of 31 March 2023, Karlshochschule International University was reaccredited until 31 March 2030.
Reasons for studying with us
More than half of our students come from abroad, currently from over 60 countries worldwide. The course content is also global and prepares students for careers on the international labour market. English as the language of instruction throughout the programme and additional language courses form the basis for this.
The cross-cultural collaboration in teams with teachers from different countries and cultures also leads to international experiences directly in the classroom. We also welcome numerous foreign students from our partner universities every semester.
Karlshochschule's global network and the international orientation of teaching and research lead to a wide range of co-operations, projects and events.
Another focus of your study programme is its practical relevance. Various (international) company projects, lecturers from the field and a compulsory internship semester—often completed abroad—provide you with a wide range of practical experience right from the start. By the way: Karlshochschule is there to help you choose your internship—with our Career Service and many contacts to international companies, NGOs and cultural institutions.
And even after you have graduated, the Karlshochschule will be at your side with support and advice. Our alumni network offers you the opportunity to take part in networking events and workshops, among other things.
Together we can achieve more—let's make a change!
Information regarding financing your studies
As a small, non-profit foundation university, Karlshochschule only has very limited opportunities to support students with scholarships. However, the study programmes at Karlshochschule meet all the requirements of numerous scholarship providers. In this way, we want to make it possible for students to study at Karlshochschule regardless of their financial background.
In addition to the general scholarships, Karlshochschule also offers partial scholarships for studying at Karlshochschule together with our partner organisations.
Erasmus scholarships and other scholarships for the semester abroad are awarded by our International Office: During the semester abroad, Karlshochschule students studying at European partner universities are 100% funded by Erasmus scholarships!
Scholarships
Although the Karlshochschule International University itself does not award any university scholarships, there are numerous scholarship programmes that are available to students throughout Germany.
