Description of the programme

In the Major in Cultural Studies, you learn from social and cultural phenomena and explore how cultural studies contribute to the ongoing transformations in societies. The core area of the program focuses on comprehensive theories, themes, and perspectives, providing you with an overview of the central questions, paradigms, theoretical concepts, and methods within cultural studies. Building on this foundation, the practical area allows you to engage with specific fields of action within cultural studies to explore their applications and reflect on them scientifically. Additionally, the specialization area offers you the opportunity to set your own emphases, providing numerous choices and combinations. This flexibility enables you to decide whether to broaden your major by selecting two areas of specialization or to create a distinct focus with one.

A distinctive feature of Cultural Studies at Lüneburg is the systematic integration of disciplines that are often treated separately at other universities.
