Description of the programme
The B.A. in Social Education is integrated into the interdisciplinary college study model, ensuring a high degree of versatility. This program at the college allows you to explore how deeply you are interested in engaging with social education, learning, and teaching scientifically, and to what extent you can envision a future career as a social education teacher.
The program begins with the Leuphana Semester, where you acquire methodological and technical fundamentals and receive an introduction to the field of social education. Starting from the second semester, you will add a teaching subject and a professionalization area to your studies, preparing you to transition into a teaching-focused master's program after completing your bachelor's degree. You will also complete a minimum of a five-week internship in social education courses at vocational schools, with reflections on this experience facilitated by university faculty. Additionally, you will take a seminar in the interdisciplinary complementary studies to gain further inter- and transdisciplinary insights from the world of academia. In the fifth semester, many courses are offered in English to accommodate international exchange students, and you will have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at a partner university. Your sixth semester is dedicated to writing your bachelor's thesis, supplemented by an international perspective on social education to provide a comparative view of your learning.
