Description of the programme
Economics focuses on the allocation of scarce resources, goods, and services to enhance human well-being. Various economic systems can be organized to achieve this, and sometimes government intervention is essential for ensuring economic efficiency and social fairness. These interventions often involve critical economic and social policy matters. Many of the economic issues discussed in the public sphere fall under macroeconomics, which deals with broader economic aspects like inflation and growth across entire countries or regions. On the other hand, microeconomics examines the decisions and actions of individuals, families, and businesses concerning consumption, labor, and production.
In the Bachelor of Science in Economics program, you will use formal mathematical models and graphical representations to analyze real-world issues and public policies. The field of economics is heavily empirical, so you will also learn to use statistical methods and software to carry out your own empirical research projects.
