Nutritional Sciences

This field of study deals with human nutrition. It is primarily concerned with the investigation of the ingredients of individual foods and the processes involved in food utilisation and metabolism. The aim is to investigate the effect of food ingredients on the regulatory mechanisms of the human body. All this serves to maintain health and performance. Nutritional Sciences are related to Home Economics, as it deals with the organisation and economy of individual and private households. For this reason, these two sciences are often taught together and then referred to as Ecotrophology.
