SFU Berlin was accredited and founded in 2013 as a branch of SFU Vienna. SFU is the largest private university in Austria and offers its students the opportunity to complete parts of their chosen study programme there or at one of the other locations in Italy, Slovenia or France. By changing locations, students have the opportunity to combine a change of subject perspective with international experience and still study continuously at the same university.

University profile
The study programmes at Sigmund Freud PrivatUniversität (SFU), which are run in the bachelor's-master's-doctorate/PhD system, are structurally adapted to the demand for studying in Berlin. Career orientation already plays a major role alongside academic education in the bachelor's degree and is intensified and further deepened in the master's degree. In the various programmes, such as Cultural Relations and Migration, the specific expansion of knowledge and development of competences is possible as a part-time course of study. In addition to Psychology and Psychotherapy Science (often referred to in everyday language as ‘studying Psychotherapy’), the Media and Digital Journalism study programme complements SFU's portfolio as a focal university in the vibrant media location of Berlin.
