Digital technologies in the form of social media, mobile communication and business analytics are penetrating industry and the economy ever faster. Today, we associate the term digital transformation with new digital business models with a disruptive approach to innovation, real-time interaction and reliable predictions based on big data.
Description of the programme
Advances in digital technologies are also leading to a paradigm shift in industrial value creation, which has already been associated with a new industrial revolution for several years via the terms Industry 4.0 and Big Data. The merging of the physical and virtual worlds in cyber-physical systems also leads to new challenges in management and here in particular in the management and professional support of projects in the context of change processes that will make up the digital transformation in the coming years.
Engineering Management as a specialisation in the MBA
With the new specialisation Engineering Management in the MBA for engineers, natural scientists and computer scientists, Allensbach University is one of the first universities to offer management training at the Master's level in the context of the challenges described.
You will learn about the important content elements of holistic innovation management and combine these with the specialist focal points of the digitalisation of business processes, as taught by the disciplines of Data Science Management (Big Data) and Industrial Information Management (Industry 4.0).
After this training, you will be able to act as a coordinator of modern and agile information management in the company in the future and describe the related management cycle for processing and handling the resource information and design it in a disciplinary and interdisciplinary manner. They can lead concrete implementation projects with their management competence or act as internal or external consultants.
After graduation, you will know how to develop a company into a data-driven company using predictive applications. You will know how to approach and implement projects in concrete terms, which advantages automated data-driven decisions offer and which framework conditions must be observed in data science projects.
Industry 4.0 and the "Internet of Things
You will also know the business, technical and also legal challenges and opportunities associated with Industrie 4.0. You can approach the character of Industrie 4.0 entirely in terms of the "Internet of Things" as a design task for connecting real things with virtual things and people.
This enables you to accompany projects in an advisory capacity, through which a transition to a digitally networked overall system is aimed for. In particular, you can also lead the project components with which an even closer coordination of business and technical information processing in the productive environment is to be achieved.
